My skin tends to be very dry and it only gets worse during the winter months. Are there any good (affordable) skin products that provide very-dry skin with necessary relief? I use a lotion that contains AHAs for my KP so I can understand how it may dry up my skin even more.

I would also appreciate any advice for home remedies or any supplements that I can take to better my skin. By the way, I do keep hydrated so I know that my dry skin is not a result of inadequate water intake.
Thanks!

Dry scalp is one common issue that people face, especially in winter where you are moving in and out of heated areas frequently. The skin of the scalp becomes tight and itchy and tiny flakes of dead skin are showered by combing and brushing. Dry scalp conditions are often misidentified as dandruff, and are treated as such, which can worsen the condition depending on the treatments used. Dry scalp occurs when the hair strand exiting the scalp is not being lubricated by the sebaceous gland.

Good hair days start with a healthy scalp. Its job, after all, is to grow strong shiny strands. But dry indoor air can zap moisture and dissolve protective oils from the skin on your head, leaving it itchy and flaky and your mane dull and unmanageable. Gently massage conditioner into your scalp after every shampoo to hydrate it and lift away some of the flakes.

Tips for getting rid of Dry Scalp

Gently massage conditioner into your scalp after every shampoo to hydrate it and lift away some of the flakes.

Lather up with clarifying shampoo weekly. These deep-cleaning formulas rid hair of product buildup and help loosen dead skin cells on the scalp.

Turn down the heat. Hot water can zap natural oils from your scalp, making it ultra dry and sensitive; also choose the lowest heat setting on your blowdryer.

Try a final rinse of one cup warm water mixed with two to three tablespoons of white vinegar. This will also bring out the highlights in your hair and make it shiny.

Massage table salt into your dry scalp before shampooing with an acid-based shampoo.

Try an oil treatment in which you massage olive oil into your hair and scalp, cover your hair with plastic wrap and with two wet towels. Keep the towels on your head for twenty minutes, then remove oil with two washings.

Supplement your diet with foods rich in Vitamins C and B, which promote a healthy scalp, and healthy hair.

Using Essential Oils for Dry Scalp

Zinc Pyrithione: It is the most widely used active ingredient from a natural source. It’s used to treat dandruff, seborrheic dermatitus, psoriasis, eczema and numerous other skin and scalp disorders.

Tea Tree Oil – Treatment for dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and underactive sebaceous glands.

Basil: Oily hair promotes growth

Chamomile

Clary sage

Lavender – Scalp treatment for itchiness, dandruff, and even lice

Lemon – Gives golden highlights; treatment for dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and underactive sebaceous glands

Do you suffer from dry skin around eyes and other areas of your face? The skin area around the eyes is thinner than anywhere else on your body. Therefore, it usually shows lines and wrinkles before any other area of your face. Have you tried various department store products, only to be left disappointed? Many people are disillusioned with the skin care industry. Like many industries, making a dollar seems more important than providing good products. Thankfully, some small skin care companies (many are located in Europe and overseas) are concerned with creating superior products without using chemicals or synthetic additives. Usually, these specialty products are not found in stores, but you can get them online. Are there other things you can do to help reduce or prevent dry skin around eyes? Stress can cause this to happen, so if you can find safe and effective ways to reduce stress, then that will help as well as getting plenty of rest. If someone is not getting enough rest, you can usually tell by the area around the eyes. Drinking plenty of water is always good for your skin as well. Water helps to hydrate your skin. The suns ultra violet rays are a major cause of lines and wrinkles forming. If you are in the sun, you should apply a sunscreen of at least an SPF 15. The ultra violet rays can cause much more serious issues than wrinkles, so be vigilant about this. Next, I am going to tell you what specific ingredients to avoid when looking for a skin care product to treat dry skin around eyes. You will find many products containing mineral oil. Mineral oil will leave your skin feeling soft but it will clog your pores. This will lead to other skin conditions such as acne breakouts. Avoid products containing this ingredient. In addition, some products contain fragrances. Fragrances are not needed in skin care products. They can cause skin irritations and allergic reactions as well. Natural essential oils are much safer for your skin. This includes jojoba oil, macadamia and avocado oil. They are natural emollients and are very effective at reducing lines and wrinkles and at hydrating the skin without adverse side effects. Another very effective natural substance used specifically in products that treat dry skin around eyes is Eyeliss™. This substance is effective at reducing the puffiness and bags under your eyes. It is available in specialty high-end skin care products. Eventually, the large cosmetic companies may catch on and start using it but that remains to be seen. If you would like more information on the specific natural ingredients used in the most effective products for dry skin around eyes then please take a minute and visit my website today.

The five main causes of tight, parched skin care:
1. The effective of aging
2. Using a cleanser that’s too harsh
3. Using a moisturizer that’s not rich enough
4. Using cosmetics that are not oil based
5. Not having enough sun protection
Supple, radiant skin will be the reward for making a gentle skin care routine a daily habit.
Cleansing
Gentle cleansing is a must for dry skin. Fortunately, there are plenty to try. The three primary categories of cleansers for dry skin are:
1. “Superfatted” soaps, often called “beauty bars”. They contain special emollients such as olive oil or lanolin.
2. Milky liquid cleansers, gently applied then rinsed off with warm water.
3. Cleansing creams that are applied with fingertips then tissued off.
Hydrating ingredients are very necessary in moisturizers for people prone to dry skin. The product should be formulated with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, or dimethicone. These ingredients slow down moisture loss during the day, preventing further dehydration of the skin. If you don’t have acne pure olive oil can be used as a moisturizer before bed. Of course, olive oil has no sun protectant properties, so sunscreen during the day is a must.
Cosmetics
Foundation, blusher, and powder should all be oil-based. They will have such terminology as, “hydrating”, “nourishing”, and “moisturizing” in their names. A cream or cream-powder blusher will make your skin look dewy, as opposed to powder blushers, which will emphasize lines and wrinkles.
Protection from the Sun
Less oil is produced by dry skin than by the other skin types, so it’s more vulnerable to inflammation. An SPF-15 sunscreen should be used year-round or a moisturizer with added sunscreen and antioxidants can be used. Use plenty of this protectant on the face, neck, and chest.
In summary,
- DO use a mild, soap-free liquid/creamy cleanser or “superfatted” cleansing bar to wash your face at night. Just splash warm water on your fact in the morning.
- DO use a moisturizer that is formulated with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, or dimethicone. These prevent further dryness by inhibiting moisture loss.
- DO lock in moisture by applying moisturizer to skin that is still damp
- DO use an oil-based foundation
- DO use a cream or cream-powder blusher
- DON’T ever use a harsh soap to cleanse facial and neck skin
- DON’T use buffing pads or grainy/gritty cleaning products
- DON’T leave the house without a sun protection of at least SPF 15. Face, neck, and chest should be protected every day, year-round.

Dry skin has a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. Dry skin, also called xerosis, is a common problem. Dry skin types have to be extremely careful to protect their skin. Yogurt-honey combination helps dry skin. Make an egg face pack with a yolk, a teaspoon of honey, a tablespoon of milk powder. This is beneficial to dry skin types. Avoid the use of tap water when cleansing dry skin. Use mineral water to freshen your face. Don’t use a washcloth-a rough texture can irritate. Use nondetergent, neutral-pH products to cleanse your skin. Avoid using any commercial soap.

The skin around the eyes has fewer oil glands than in other parts of the body, leaving it susceptible to dryness. The dry skin, if left untreated, will eventually lead to thinning, flaking, and wrinkles. This is often noticeable when the humidity drops, such as during winter, in an airline cabin, or in a building heated by furnaces or forced-air heaters. Other causes for dry skin around the eyes include excessive bathing, cosmetics and makeup, or an allergic reaction to certain chemicals.

The Transformé Scrub is made with Zeolite, which is a natural ingredient, so some particles may be darker than others. These particles capture and lift the environmental intruders from your skin. Use the scrub only two or three times a week for exfoliation. Apply the scrub to your hands and mix with water, gently rubbing in circular motions with your fingertips. Rinse well with cool water. Avoid the areas around your eyes. If your skin becomes irritated, use less of the product and use less pressure when rubbing.

Nothing shows your age like dry, wrinkled skin around your eyes. Lighten and brighten with a moisture rich product like Caudalie Eye Contour Cream. Gently pat around your eye contour area to reduce dry skin and puffiness.

As you age, your eyes might need an extra lift. Try targeting ageing skin around your eyes with a skin care product packed with anti-aging ingredients. Lightly dab Caudalie Eye Lifting Serum around your eye before applying your eye cream to restore your skin’s youthful radiance.

Dry skin around the eyes needs extra care as this area is already sensitive. Gently apply eye cream with your fingertips – a small droplet of the cream is enough. Apply onto clean skin always before moisturizer.

Minerals and supplements can make a tremendous impact on eye health. Minerals help the body metabolize vitamins. They also help the body balance nutrition and hormones. Zinc and Selenium can help prevent many diseases including those that affect the eyes. Zinc can be found in red meat, oysters and wheat. Lutein is plentiful in spinach and collard greens. Bioflavonoids are found vitamin C rich foods. Carotenoids also convert substances from these foods into vitamin A that provides antioxidant protection. Omega-3 fatty acids such are found in seafood’s are also excellent for eye health, and they are rich in antioxidants.

Vitamin E is one of the most vital healing agents for dry skin. It has been proven over the years to be able to keep moisture in the skin. It is found in many natural vegetable oils. It’s easy to use, however, straight from a capsule. To apply vitamin E oil directly to irritated skin, just puncture a hole in a vitamin E capsule. This is a great way to get vitamin E directly to a sore spot, such as an insect bite or other extremely itchy spot.

What is dry skin therapy? Do you need one? How can it help you? Has anyone asked you these questions before? If not, let me be the first one to do so. A lot of people these days are not aware of their skin condition and they simply don’t bother. They don’t even spend a few minutes a day to take care of their skin. By the time they notice something different in their skin, things would have gotten a lot more complicated. People with dry skin, for the most part, are not aware of it. So, let me first explain you the symptoms of dry skin. 1. After a shower or face wash, your skin becomes excessively tight or feels extremely clean without a hint of moisture or sebum. 2. Your skin often feels rough. 3. You have peeling, itching, reddening, and flaking of skin. 4. You have wrinkles or even worse, cracks. If you said yes to two or more points above, you most certainly have dry skin and definitely require dry skin therapy. So, let us take a look at it now. The first step in treating dry skin is to stop using soap. Soaps are harsh and they tend to make your skin very dry. They simply deprive your skin of essential moisture. So, stop using soap and start using a mild cleanser today. Cleansers are not as harsh as soaps and they tend to cleanse your skin mildly. Moreover, they retain the essential moisture in your skin. So, using a cleanser is one of the best dry skin remedies to begin with. After you start using a cleanser, you can feel the difference in your skin in just a few weeks. The next step in dry skin therapy is to find a good skin care product and start using it. You can go for a hydrating mask or a moisturizer that can hydrate your skin and keep it soft and supple. The important thing, however, is to find a good product. As you know, the market is flooded with literally hundreds of skin care products from big brands. So, you’ll naturally find it difficult to choose one. However, the best way, according to skin care experts, is to go organic. Organic skin care products are very effective and there is absolutely no risk involved in using them for dry skin remedies. The same thing cannot be said about artificial cosmetic items as they contain some dangerous chemicals which are very harmful to your health. Some of the best organic ingredients include natural vitamin E, functional keratin (which is almost considered a miracle ingredient for dry skin), avocado oil, macadamia oil, manuka honey, and natural vegetable emollients. If you can find a good skin care cream with all or most of these ingredients, go for it immediately. As with any other thing in life, you need to spend a little time every day for dry skin therapy to get the results you want. So, get a good skin cream today and say goodbye to dry skin forever.
